What is Osinergmin?
Osignermin is the Supervising Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining. It is the public institution in charge of regulating and supervising companies in the electric, hydrocarbons and mining sectors and is governed by the legal provisions in place for its activities.
Osinergmin was created on December 31, 1996 through Law N° 26734 and was initially named Osinerg. This entity began functioning on October 15, 1997 to supervise electric and hydrocarbon companies to ensure that they provide permanent, safe and quality services.
In 2007, Law N° 28964 expanded the institution’s scope of activities to include the mining sub-sector and its name was changed to Osinergmin. For this reason, Osinergmin also supervises mining companies to ensure that they conduct their activities in a safe and healthy manner. Osinergmin is a legal body of internal public rights and enjoys functional, technical, administrative, economic and financial autonomy. This institution’s regulatory and supervisory activities are governed by technical criteria to contribute to the country’s energy development while protecting the interests of the population.

Regulate, supervise and oversee the energy and mining sectors with autonomy, technical capacity and clear as well as predictable rules so that the activities in these sectors develop safely, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply.

In this context, Osinergmin is regarded as the state institution with the highest level of credibility and reliability in Peru.
